Yellow / Shortoff Mountain

This 11.7 mile out and back hike up to the Yellow Mountain Fire Tower is a challenging hike. It is recommended to bring lunch and plenty of water. This hike can take about 7 hours so leave early in the day. To get there, take Highway 64 east from Highlands for 3 miles. Then turn left onto Buck Creek Road. Follow Buck Creek Road for 2.3 miles to Cole Gap where there is a gated forest service road on the left. Park on the left side of the road. The trail will start on the east side of the road across from the parking area.
