Secret Falls

Big Shoals Falls, also known as Secret Falls, is a .75-mile easy hike to a beautiful waterfall. From highlands, head south down Highway 28 for 4.1 miles to Wilson Gap and turn left onto Rich Gap Road. Drive .6 miles then turn right onto unpaved forest service road FR45670. Drive 1.75 miles to the Big Shoals parking area on the right. The trail starts out as an old roadbed but quickly turns into a footpath. The trail will descend to an old road where it will cross a creek. Turn right and follow this road until the trail turns left and leaves the roadbed. When you get closer to the falls, the trail gets narrow and splits. The main trail will continue straight to the top of the falls and then a rough, steep trail descends to the right to the base of the falls.
