This fall, trade the interstate for a ribbon of color on Highway 64 W. Also known as Franklin Road, Highlands Road, the Mountain Waters Scenic Byway, and the Cullasaja River Gorge, this scenic drive follows the river through dramatic cliffs and cascading waterfalls, creating one of the most breathtaking leaf-peeping routes in the Southeast. Visitors can also book a Highlands Excursion Tour, an easy and comfortable way to explore the gorge with expert guides.

The byway features four marquee waterfalls: Cullasaja, Bust Your Butt (Quarry Falls), Dry Falls, and Bridal Veil. It also includes the convenient pull-off for Cliffside Lake Recreation Area.
