Highlands welcomes a new amateur radio repeater system affording county wide contact opportunities to visiting Ham's and their families. Although an amateur radio license is required to use the new repeater, the new communications tool allows visiting Ham radio operators and their families access to local amateurs who can provide anything from a friendly welcome to the area to directions and information about Highlands. Currently located on Big Bear Pen Mountain with a callsign of WD4NFT, it operates on a frequency of 444.650 with a plus offset and a PL tone of 169.7.
