In the fall of 2010, after many years of bouncing between local bands together, musician friends Mark Lassiter and Sam Potts decided it was time to put together a project of their own. Having performed together since the late 90s in Oboe Mimosa, followed by Tom Turner & the Cashiers All Stars, both had similar musical interests and work ethic. Mark liked the idea of pulling back together a band like the Cashiers Blues Company, a project he’d enjoyed success with through the early 2000s. Sam liked the idea of adding an Americana flair to a rockin’ blues band.
With Mark on keyboards, guitar and vocals and Sam on drums and vocals, they needed look no further than their other musician friends from the area to fill the band roster. Joe Fowler, who works as the Director of Technology for The Episcopal School of Knoxville, joined and added a bass player with many years’ experience performing and recording in many styles of music.
Jim Yoder, having spent many years on the road and recording prior to moving to the area, joined with his “wah-wah mandolin,” baritone guitar and background vocals. Lee Ladensack who is best known for his work with another local favorite Hurricane Creek, rounds out the band bringing his wealth of musical talent adding lead guitar and strong vocals to the band’s sound. Their sound incorporates rock, blues, Americana, bluegrass, country, jazz as well as other musical styles and provides a set list that is familiar and eclectic at the same time.
