Rocksteady@8 was formed in 1999 in Tampa, FL., with members from various ska and other world music groups from around the area. The band's first gig was opening for the legendary reggae group Toots and the Maytals. The band soon became a popular act around the Tampa Bay area in the early 2000's, opening for other reggae and dancehall greats, including Jimmy Cliff, Yellowman, Justin Hinds, and Eek-A-Mouse. The band continued to perform over the last two decades with various lineups around the Tampa Bay area.
