July 8-11, 2010 - Mountains in Bloom garden festival
The 14th annual Mountains in Bloom is a multi-day garden festival (over 1,200 attendees, July 8-11, 2010) in the mountain resort community of Highlands, North Carolina. Mountains in Bloom features a magnificent tour of mountain gardens, a flower show and photography competition, a home and garden market, and a garden-themed lecture by a top speaker. Frederic Chopin and Robert Schumann Bicentennial
In celebration of the bicentennial of Chopin and Schumann, this class will focus on the extraordinary lives and music of these two composers who epitomized, in their dramatic lives and work, the Romantic era in all its excess, dizzying highs and tragic lows. The class will also explore some of the works by Chopin and Schumann to be presented at the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival and performed by Festival Artistic Director pianist William Ransom and the Biava String Quartet.
